I made reservations over the internet, not seeing the campground prior. It's a very small campground and you practically park on top of one another. Our site was #29 which we had someone next to us on our awning side, but not on our back side with gave us a little space of our own. It's so compacted there, you must watch for kids on bikes coming from all directions while driving, backing, parking your rig. If you're going with other families and want to be close, this campground is perfect for you. If you're looking for privacy, not so the place. All sites can see the water, most are waterfront which is really nice - but this water is so brown, I wouldn't let my kids swim in it - although several families were. It's just my preference not to swim in water where I can't see my feet the first foot of walking. Restrooms we clean - no campstore to speak of and a grocery store is probably 10-15 miles away if you've forgot anything. I need just a tad bit more elbow room than this campground could give me, even if we only have a 16ft trailer. Not a bad place, just not for me.

We stayed here this past weekend, but opted for their "Gas Saver Special". Book 2 consecutive weekends and leave your camper on the grounds (moved to a designated area). Stacey in the office couldn't be nicer - check in was a breeze. The camp store has some things, but not food. The Grocery store is in Lisbon about 10 miles away. The restrooms were cleaned/checked more than a few times a day because every time my husband or I were down using the 'facilities' Stacey was there checking it! The showers were clean and roomy, although the one in the club house had no separate changing area from the bathrooms. The showers in the rear were large enough for changing right inside the shower stall. The pool was wonderful on 2 hot days! It's not heated, but didn't need to be. The club house has a pool table, fooseball, some video games, a table, sofa. It's also where the laundry room is located. VERY clean. The sites are long, no one behind you or beside you. There were a couple places where the sites looked 'tight' (mainly #43 & #44) yet others were normal. There is no brush or anything hiding you from your neighbor, incase you're expecting a private site in a private campground - and no there are no 'waterfront' sites. You have to walk down to the creek. The campground was pretty full on our visit, but extremely quiet at night. The pool closed at 10 (or dusk) as does the club house. There was everything from Tent campers to Motorhomes and Fifth Wheels here so all are welcome and accommodated. At the time of this writing, the County this campground is located in is 'quarantined' due to Emerald Ash Borer, and therefore you must buy your firewood from the campground. $5 a large milk crate, which is larger than what you'd get at a convenience store - and they have a dump load or more depending on how long you're staying. We really enjoyed this campground and we're looking forward to going back next weekend.

We stayed here for 7 days over 4th of July in the pet section. Sure it was quiet during the week, and filled up on the holiday weekend, but we never felt crowded. Our camp site (as most were) was quite large and very spacious. The campground Hosts had activities planned such as a bike parade, walks and talks with naturalists and an Ice cream social on Saturday night. The bathrooms were newer and spotless. The showers were actual individual rooms, not just shower stalls and quite spacious they were separate from the restrooms but in the same building. 2 sets of washer and dryers, along with outside sinks for doing your dishes if you wanted to bring them down there from your camp site. Nice camp store with everything from fresh brewed coffee, T-shirts, frozen ice cream novelties to pantry items. Check in took no time and with reservations, you don't even have to get out of your vehicle just pull up to the window and get your vehicle pass. Those were the positives. The only negative we encountered was on the first day, my husband was called into work so he drove separately to help me set up. He wasn't going to stay longer than to un-hitch the trailer and help me with the awning. The girl at the check-in office said it was OK that he didn't have a vehicle pass since he wasn't staying for more than an hour, but the Ranger pulled up and made a BIG deal over our 2nd vehicle's 1 wheel being on the grass. Proceeded to write my husband a $125 ticket for "parking on the grass in a State Park" a law that we didn't know about. After some convincing, the Ranger decided to just write him a warning instead with a stern lecture (my husband is 50 years old) about having his right front tire on the grass. The following day I had photographed 9 boat trailers fully parked on the grass at some camp sites. Somewhat of a confusing State Park 'law'. All-in-all, it's a beautiful park. The Campground Hosts and State Park employees were working all the time at taking care of everything as they and their work carts could be seen often around the park. I'd put this park in the same rating category as that campground in Florida, where that one Mouse lives it is THAT nice!!

After reading the other reviews, my husband and I made the 2 hour drive with much apprehension. Upon arrival at the check-in office, then on to our site, I knew we had made the right choice. The campground was immaculate! Nicely mowed and trimmed camp sites. We camped in the pet section (#1-40) our site was #12, in the loop. I can say all the loop (7-13 in our loop) sites are more private than the others that seemed to be too close together in my opinion, but for families and friends who want to be together it would be perfect. Most others not in the loop areas were grassy and open. I personally witnessed the Campground Host clean the latrines (yes, they only have 'pit toilets' in this campground) twice daily and they were more clean than most 'flush' facilities I have been to. There is only 1 shower house, and most campers drove to it due to it's proximity to the campsites - it, too, was clean, down to the Corian counter tops and sinks! The camp store is a cute old log cabin, there is a Saturday night family movie (weather permitting) and where else can you go where the State Park provides you FREE slab wood for your camp fire? My husband and I are already planning our next trip to this campground. It was one of the nicer state parks we have camped in.
